E.G.G.S. Is back for its second Smash 4 Wii U tournament at Game On in Clifton. We will be running a non-custom bracket first, followed by a custom bracket. 3$ venue fee, plus 7$ for each bracket. Sign ups for the non-custom bracket start at 3:30, and signups for the custom bracket will begin at 4:30. All of the Evo custom sets are loaded onto our Wii U's for you to pick from in the custom bracket. In order to maximize play time and keep the playing field even, transferring custom sets from the 3ds version and creating new custom sets on the Wii U's will not be allowed. We have gamecube controller adapters for every Wii U. The tournament rules are as follows.

Double Elimination

2 Stocks, 6 Minutes.

If a match goes to time, the player with the most stocks wins the game. If both players have the same amount of stocks, the player with the least damage wins.

Items/equipment off

Sets are best 2 of 3
Winners, losers and Grand finals are best 3 of 5

DSR is on (you cannot counter pick a stage you have already won on during that set)

Starter Stages: Battlefield, Final Destination, Smashville

Counter Picks: Lylat Cruise, Town & City, Castle Siege, Delfino Plaza, Duck Hunt, Halberd, Dreamland 64, Miiverse (counts as Battlefield), Omegas (counts as FD)

Order of events: Pick characters, then stage striking, then custom move selection.

The first stage can be chosen by selecting random on the stage select screen, it is set to only the starter stages. However, players are free to use an alternative way of selecting a starter stage if both agree to it.

Following stages decided by winner banning two stages from all stages and then loser choosing.

I will be there.

But I must say now that Evo is finished, the Evo sets are completely obsolete. Leveling the playing field is a fair enough argument but transferring custom set from a 3ds will not hold up the tournament. I mean you must remember that it's maybe 1 in 10 people who will actually bring a 3ds to transfer customs.

A response before the tournament would be really cool Joe.

Hey man, sorry I'm just getting back to you now. I get what you're saying, but we aren't going to allow transferring customs from the 3ds. People with only the Wii u version are put at a disadvantage. We are honestly only gauging the public response to customs at this point, because unfortunately the community at large seems to be abandoning them.

Fair enough,

Sorry I wasn't able to make it this time. I didn't realize this was starting so early and I had to work a bit late. Maybe consider starting a bit later next time for people who have to work during the day?

It's all good man, I'm sorry you couldn't make it, it was a great event. I want to start these things later as well, I normally work 7-3:30 Monday through Friday but this past Wednesday was an exception. The only problem is that Game On closes at 9 so we have to start at least somewhat early to be able to finish the bracket. I don't think we'll be running a custom bracket next time so that gives us a little more flexibility as far as time goes. Once we migrate to a different venue though, well have much more control over what time/ day of the week these event happen.
