Teach a scrub how to wavedash, You made a new smasher for a week, show them the glamour of each move at their own pace, You've created passion

That's only good for discouraging players from continuing the game. All it takes is merely playing with you. Let them learn on their own. Have fun. They'll control their own pace

(This is what I learned in my experiences. It might be different for others)

An old roommate of mine (and still my best friend and best playing partner) knew I had interest in Smash when we met and before I moved in, so when I moved in he asked if I wanted to watch a documentary about Melee, and we did. That was a year ago and I'm in love with the game now.

I think high quality content that is accessible to new players or people who've never played before would be important. For example, an acquaintance seemed rather interested in getting to know melee but there was no good content for him since he had never played a smash game. The first episode of the documentary was the best video to explain some of the very basics but really didn't cover a lot.

There's one thing that gets people interested in melee.

HYPE
You have to already understand Melee to get hype at it. Showing someone who plays Smash causally Wombo Combo or some other set, they're not going understand how amazing it was.
