So I'm organizing a sort of charity fundraiser for child's play to be held next friday, March 5th. It's pretty local based and VERY casual (sort of trying to get people into the competitive scene, and not just for Smash, so I have to be as inclusive as I can). But if you're in the area, give it a look, especially if you want to get involved. Admission is $5 and gives you eligibility for any tournament, and gives you a complimentary slice of pizza, too. It's a charity event, so prizes will just be a semi-cheap custom made trophy, possibly filled with more food or candy. Again, not something I'd organize hotel rooms for but if you're in or around the Athens-Clarke County area I'd suggest giving it a look. Here's the info:

Address: Clarke Central High School Media Center, (350 South Milledge Avenue)
Park from Baxter St. To get to the Media Center, go right at the gym right next to the parking lot and follow the path. Go around the main school building, past the main benches area until you get to a loop next to a doorway with windows. After entering, keep going left and you should find it.

Time: 4 pm - 8pm (Brawl will be held somewhere near 5 or 6)
$5 admission and onetime fee, comes with a slice of pizza, all other food is sold separately

=========================================

A video game centered fundraiser filled with tournaments, prizes, food, and fun to raise money and awareness for Child's Play. Child's Play is a charity dedicated to donating money, movies and games to children's hospitals. (More info at http://www.childsplaycharity.org/) Everyone is welcome to attend.

$5 at the door. The fee comes with a complimentary free slice of pizza and snack, as well as the limitless permission to play all you like! There will even be a dedicated Guitar Hero/Rock Band area. You can also swap/buy games or donate them towards Child's Play. All proceeds again, go towards charity.

The fee also makes you eligible to participate in as many tournaments as you want for no added cost (as well as other side games), to compete for prizes. We'll be having:

Madden

Halo 3 (Teams, LAN)
(We'll be using the MLG ruleset, "Slayer" and "All Games", http://www.mlgpro.com/content/content_alert/160002/Official-MLG-Halo-3-Gametypes-Version-1)

The amount of people per team depends on the turnout of the event.

Mario Kart Wii (Teams)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

If any of the rules seem unclear (and they very well might be), or if you have any other questions, just ask

:yoshi: If you could put the date in the thread title or somewhere bolded to make it more visible...

...I think you'd get more attention. Given the date, I'll see if I can stop by. I'm a sucker for charities.

Haha, yeah you're right I'm an idiot for not doing that.

Hopefully if this is successful (which it looks to moderately be) I can start a charity tournament series.
