I was told that you get 1 free pummel(that they can't mash out of) for every 25-35%. Is this true?

At what percent are pummels guaranteed?

it depends partially on how fast the escapee can mash out. I like to pummel as much as I can until I hear them mashing at around 80+%. Before then, 1 pummel every 35% is a safe formula

Try it in a level 9 computer. That'll give you an idea as to what you can get away with against top tier mashing. And obviously if you can hear they're not mashing...
