ASL Seems to Be Oddly Stage Specific

So I have been testing out Mewtwo2000's updated ASL Tool and have noticed that some custom stages are unable to be used as alternates to certain stages. For whatever reason, some stages seem to hang on the "Ready to Start" screen after selecting it and it'll never load. However when setting the custom stage to be an alternate to another stage, it somehow works.

For example, I tried putting Theytah's HD Kongo Jungle 64 http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=36285 as an alternate to Jungle Japes (STGDXGARDEN) however it wouldn't work. Then I tried putting it as an alternate to 75m (STGDONKEY) and it worked.
A similar thing happened with this stage http://forums.kc-mm.com/Gallery/BrawlView.php?Number=207034 I tried putting it as an alternate to Yoshi's Island (Brawl) however the stage wouldn't load. Then I set it as an alternate to Yoshi's Story (Melee) and it worked.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with using ASL and does anyone know what would cause this? Right now it appears to be a game of trial and error in terms of seeing if the stage is compatible as an alternate to a certain stage.

If you look under the download links, you'll notice it tells you the stage's base file. You need to properly utilize the correct .rels for stages as well. A stage built on Yoshi's Island (Melee) isn't going to work on the YI:B slot without a proper .rel.

Yeah I set up the module files correctly, HD Kongo Jungle 64 uses a Final Destination base rel, so I renamed the rel as 'st_dxgarden_A' when putting it as an alternate to Jungle Japes but it still wouldn't work. But as a 2nd alternate to 75m 'st_donkey_B' it worked
Also, I've noticed in the past that if I did not set up module files correctly with stages, it would have frozen with a beep. I don't get a beep when I select a stage, it just hangs on 'Ready to Start'

There's your problem.

Use this. http://www.lakora.us/rel/
Yeah I used that website to get my base rels, but you still have to rename it to the proper name (ie. by adding _A or _Z). I used the correct rels so I'm not too sure it's a rel problem. What I did was I named the HD Kongo Jungle and Final Destination rel file stgdxgarden_A and st_dxgarden_A respectively after configuring Jungle Japes to have an alternate stage. When that didn't work, I tried it as an alternative stage to 75m by renaming both files stgdonkey_B and st_donkey_B respectively and it worked. I used the same rel file throughout this process.

It still sounds like you're doing something incorrectly. If the game is hanging when trying to boot the alternate, then perhaps you didn't set the asl for that slot correctly.

Also if you could, screencap the filesize of the .rel you're using.

Though there are certain slots that certain stages cannot be ported over. FD based stages cannot be ported over castle siege for example from what I recall, though I don't believe japes was a slot that was restrictive.
