Hello, community. I have some questions to be answered.

My friends and I have decided to organize a tournament, and each has an asignment. One got the place and another the contestants. Now, the responsability of the brackets goes to me, and that's where I want to be illustrated.

What must I know to suceed in this? What must I use for this? Is there a guide or something?

Who's going to your tournament?
If you know their rank or general skill, you want to make sure you don't put the top players fighting each other in round one.

When you make a bracket, you have to be aware that there are "pods" that consist of four games where the contestants won't interact with players from another pod until round 4. Ideally, you want each of your top contestants to be in there own pod, usually getting a bye. From this point, players who are good but didn't quite get there own pod should be put on the end of the pod that is as far away from the better player as possible.

Basically, try to keep the top players from playing each other as long as possible. Don't be afraid to ask some trustworthy top players for help ranking people, as they usually know who's good better than anyone else does, and you want as much input as possible so your bracket isn't biased or players aren't misrepresented. Let me know if I need to be more thorough on anything I said.
