I'm not a bad snake user myself, and I used to beat the crap out of my friends pikachu. But yesterday he decided to use snake as a joke. He started to spam mortars at mid range and f-tilt like crazy. If I shielded or spotdodged his f-tilt, the mortar would hit me out of anything i would do out of the shield. if i continued shielding, the mortar would make my shield even smaller, and he would f-tilt again or grab me and let a mortar hit me while i was on his hold, then f-throw me and start all over again. I couldnt jump because of the mortars, and the only thing i could do was retreat, but eventually i would run out of ground. grenade countering worked only when he was really close. He would f-tilt me off mortar slide in case i tried to use it to get a bit more ground between us. And the thing is, he only used these 3 moves: grab,u-smash and f-tilt.Hell, he wouldnt even use grenades or d/u-tilts. my stock would last until 200% because of the stale moves negation, but even so, i couldnt approach him or get around his mortars. I lost to him everytime in Final Destination(in stages with plataforms, i 3 stocked him everytime), which is a shame, seeing that I'm falling for such nooby tatics and that i can do pretty well against good players. So, any advice of how to beat his spam?

Funny you should mention this...it's actually sort of common that Snake mains have the most trouble in dittos. From my viewpoint, I think your friend embraced the KISS strategy (as in, Keep It Simple Stupid), and oftentimes that is the case. Since he faces Snake all the time (being you) he knew what to expect and yet knew your weaknesses at the same time. So, it's likely he just used what seemed most practical, and by knowing how to handle a Snake, he had the upper hand. In truth, using the mortar as a safety measure from punishment/grabs and doubling as a deterrent is pretty logical. Not a nooby tactic, just a simple, smart one.

You may just have to adjust to Snake dittos. You main the character to know well enough that you should be able base your strategy on your weaknesses. At the same time, you will know what to expect.

Snake dittos are a whole new realm on their own. Matches can turn around easily, just from being too spammy or too predictable and as a result eating too many tilts/explosives in the face. What could possibly give you the edge is your ingenuity. Do something that the other Snake doesn't expect, or hasn't seen before. Easier said than done, right? It's tough since both players are trying to outsmart each other and not make too many mistakes that leave them open, all the while knowing nearly every trick that awaits them from the opponent.

I have some minor trouble with snake dittos too, mainly because I always think that they would do just as I would do. Nothing so serious thought. And please, beat this guy, f-tilt spammers only makes snake players reputation worse.
