...I feel as though there is something I should personally give my opinion on. Now, this is just the opinion of some newbie, but I have a feeling that some of you might agree. I've posted this in the Wii U subtopic because I have a feeling that more people browse this rather than the 3DS subtopic, so if this is technically in the wrong forum then I apologize.

Have faith in the game's competitive value! You see, the best thing to do is not compare footage of what is an old, E3 build of a game that people haven't had much time to get used to compared to high-tier footage of a finished product that people have had years to find advanced tech to, ala Melee. That being said, you should also give the finished product some time as well to fully develop.

Just because a game doesn't have wavedashing or L-Canceling (assuming it doesn't in the final product) doesn't mean it doesn't have the potential to be big. I mean, I certainly don't expect it to be on Melee's level, but I definitely expect it to be far higher than Brawl's. We've already got a couple things that could potentially make this game's competitive scene big, ala custom moves and the recently discovered Turnaround Cancel. Who knows what else we could find later on?

All in all, I mainly just wanted to give my two cents on the competitive value of this game. If there's anything I'm missing or need to be corrected on, please correct me. Let's give/restore people's faith in this game's possibilities!

It's been discussed quite to death by now, and most people on this particular subforum are pretty excited for Smash4, both casually and competitively. Particularly with the hopes of post-release balance patches, and other major changes we've seen so far (the edge mechanics, pivot tilts, and at long last, apparent efforts to balance the game so that grounded fighting is a valid choice), there is little doubt the game will be enjoyed competitively.

Oh, if people give this game a chance I could see it being on the same level as Melee. The other thing is that there will most likely be balancing patches to well, balance and make the game more enjoyable. The fact that there is (Hopefully good) online mode means that people could host online tournaments which is much easier than driving to some big event, so more people will want to get into the competitive scene.

Edit: YES!!! I'M A JOURNEYMAN!

I had never played the demo because I live in Taiwan, so I don't really know most if the gameplay mechanics, like what's Turnaround Cancel? Can you explain it to me?
And yes, this game still has a lot of potential.

L-Canceling and WD aren't the only things that make melee great. I just hope it feels rewarding and there are things to learn.

Turn canceling allows you to keep your momentum by quickly turning out of dash and inputing a tilt, grab, smash ect. So you can be sliding into say, a smash, to be moving towards/away the opponent and attacking at the same time.
