Unlikely. Any system I've owned and played for extended periods of time, I've gotten used to the controller.

I will most likely be getting a Circle Pad Pro, but the shape of the device will still be rectangular, and get uncomfortable after a while. I wish there was a grip you could put on, with the CPP on, or a grip with a CPP built in.

No, I won't waste my money on that. If the sideways wiimote works perfectly for me, why not the 3DS?

Nope.
My hands have only cramped like once or twice using my 3DS, and I've had my 3DS since Summer 2011. I don't think I'll need a controller grip.

I ordered this yesterday. I had the same one before (loved it) but for some darn reason I can't find it anywhere. I also have the Circle Pad Pro just in case Smash 3DS actually supports it.

I have no plans of buying anything other than the game at the moment.

Seems like something only worth buying if you only play at home. I guess I'll consider it, but it just feels counter-intuitive for a hand-held system.

Wrong forum? They do have a 3DS forum. I know people use this as the general Smash 4 forum, but it's kinda not, technically.

Hahahahha!!

Oh man, I'm sorry! I clicked a notification to a post I made, and then clicked the link to go back to the forum, and hadn't noticed that I got warped to the 3DS section!

Hahaha...

Yup. I'm taking the 3DS version for training for the Wii U, so I need a controller grip 8)

This is so sad. The 3DS version deserves more than be neglected as a "training mode".

When I used to have a normal sized 3DS, I bought a battery extender/grip thing from Best Buy. Man, the original 3DS has terrible battery life! And the small size was uncomfortable for my hands, so the beefy grip helped my hands relax.

I sold that one a while back. I got an XL when Pokemon XY came out. Haven't had any need for a grip since, and the battery is much improved!

You learn to when you spend time on Miiverse.
But honestly, I don't see where all this 3DS version 'being training 'till the WiiU version' stuff came from. At one point everyone was like '3DS version FTW!'
I think some people can't accept the idea of a handheld device having a full fledged Smash Bros game, so they call it "training version", "inferior version", "filler until the Wii U version comes out", etc. It just make them look silly for trying to belittle a perfectly fine game imo.

Yeah, probably something like that.

Aww, don't be sad :3

I'll still play both versions to their fullest, but I consider the 3DS to make me comfortable with a controller akin to the Wii U; that doesn't mean I'm dropping it once it launches, in fact it's to maintain my dexterity on both versions so I can be prepared(insert lion king here) for any surprise tournaments or something.

Sowwy for that misunderstanding :3

Yeah, I guess no one played attention at SDCC. The whole point of that was to show the 3ds version was viable for competitive play.

Yeah, the SDCC sure helped me catch the vision, for one.

But uh, kind of off topic now :p

I don't think I'll need anything of the sort for the game.
It's comfortable enough for me to play Uprising for hours on hours, so Smash Bros. should be just fine.

Well, I never suffered cramps for playing 3DS but I mainly played RPGs so there wasn't a rough use... I had hand cramps thrice with Soul Calibur for PSP and it's not nice u.u

And in the name of prevention I ordered this grip yesterday, in theory it arrives at wednesday, I'll share my comments then...

I wish they made these for XLs. My friend gets hand cramps from almost EVERY 3ds game. I should buy one for him.

I have big hands and I never cramped playing the GBA SP for long periods of time. I think I'll be good here. No grip for me. But if a friend gets one I'll try to see if it makes much of a difference

I got this one weeks ago. I tested it with Mario Kart 7 and Sonic Generations and it's great! You will never want to play 3DS games that require both triggers without this thing ever again!
