Are there any tips for using Mario?

I want to main Mario cause he's not overused. I checked sites for tips on using him, and I've gotten kinda good with him. I Bair a lot, Uair, and all the other usual strategies. Any tips? Also, can you name his pros and cons and whether I should play a ground or aerial game?
