Are Miiverse and Dreamland 64 neutral? Counterpicks?

I haven't really seen or heard this talked about yet. In competitions, are the new battlefield clones going to be neutral starters or counter picks? I'm assuming they're legal, since they seem so simple in design.

To me, it seems like Miiverse could be a neutral pick since it's basically Battlefield with different ledges; Dreamland 64 could be a counter because it has really close blast zones and the wind gimmick.

I think Miiverse is probably going to be neutral, but..at that point, you might as well just pick Battlefield. It looks nicer and I don't think people are going to want comments floating around during a tournament. Dreamland will probably be a counter, I believe, mostly because of the wind hazard.

Dream Land 64 can be a starter, just like it is in Melee. The wind isn't really a hazard.
Miiverse I don't know. Apparently it can't be selected if any of the players is using a 3DS as a controller.

Remember that there have to be an odd number of starters due to how stage striking works. Taking the most common setup of five starters (FD, BF, SV, T&C, Lylat), Dream Land would have to bump off one of them, most likely Lylat Cruise.

Memeverse Miiverse has the same layout and blast zones as Battlefield (I did some testing yesterday), the only difference is the edges.

Miiverse stage seems so iffy. First you can't play online and then you can't even play with people use use the 3DS as a controller? That seems so oddly specific to cause a problem.

You can't play Miiverse when someone is using a 3DS because the Wii U uses it's Wifi card to connect to the 3DS systems. It can't be connected to 3DS systems and the internet simultaneously. It's also the reason you can't use the 3DS when playing online.

But I have no earthly idea why the stage can't be used "With Friends" online.

Ah okay, that makes sense. I actually didn't know this was the way that it worked. The "With Friends" thing confuses me too, although people think that maybe playing online being stacked on top of gathering information and posts from Miiverse could make matches lag, which is a shame if it were true because the stage is fun.

Dreamland will either be a counterpick, or it'll knock off Lylat into counterpick territory. Will probably depend on the TO and their opinion on either stage. Personally, I'd prefer seeing it knock off Lylat period. Lylat doesn't even deserve to be a tournament legal stage, what with all the recoveries it can unfairly prevent. Playing competitively should only be a fight between you and your opponent, the stage shouldn't be fighting you as well.

I agree. I'd like to see Miiverse and Dreamland knock out Lylat and Delfino, both of them are so janky for competitive play.

Miiverse is a great stage for comp if the system isn't connected to the internet. Then it doesn't show the distracting or sometimes hostile messages, and the plain background is easier on the eyes than a lot of other stages. In a lot of ways it reminds me of the Street Fighter IV training stage.
