I'm going to a local tournaments near me, this is going to be my first tournament and I'm not really sure how good I am on a competitive level. I know I probably won't get farther then like 2 matches, but I have some questions on the environment of the tournament. Are the people there playing more for fun or to win? I know in something like apex 2015 everyone's playing to win, but in a small local tournament what is everyone's mindsets? Also, I'm still in middle school, will people care about that, or just play? Finally, how good are most people at small local tournaments? I would like to know how bad I am going to get crushed (ha ha). Thanks!

There's a wide range of people, skills, and attitudes.

I went to my first tournament when I was your age. Naturally they might (unintentionally) ignore you since you're probably the youngest, but just be confident and ask for friendlies if you want to play. Some might say no, or maybe all the stations are full, but ask anyways.

If it's your first tournament, expect to be at the very bottom. You might be better than a few players, but it would be rare for you to have acquired the skills and experiences at such a young age to perform better than that. Not saying that it's not possible, of course. There will probably be some players who are around the kind of level you would face on For Glory, with the best players there being pretty good, and you might have one or two players who are good enough to travel further than your state to play in tournaments.

If you act mature, they won't really treat you differently from the others.

Just keep an open mind, be confident when asking for matches, and have fun!
Going with a friend or two makes it a lot more fun too.

Thanks so much! I needed a response like that (I was a bit worried). I'm so exited for the tournament now!
