i play smash with an arcade stick on my pc, dont know if thats its too common.
so googling one day i found this controller so im thinking buy one of this.
reading many stuff about it in other forums and the only problem is that u need a backpack to carrying it xD.
im interested in the tilt attacks. are like a normal controler or if u need to buffering like an emulator?

i want some opinions about this controller, may be share some button setup on arcade sticks (if im not the only who use it)

here is a size comparison

note. the stick can be changed between middle (stick) and left (d-pad).

I've tried it.

Not good for smash.

At all. lol

The joystick is HORRIBLE. Making pivots, and ANY thing of fast complex movements nearly impossible. The one I used looked new, but it was so worthless. If the joystick had gone bad, I imagine it wouldn't take long to get there. The button layout doesn't lend to the inputs necessary for smash. I imagine you could change them to something more suitable, but I can't help you there. I would suggest, however, to stay with the (I'm assuming) much higher quality stick you're using now. Keyboard players could probably help you out with a layout maybe. Of course, you would have to switch for console- so there's still that.

I collect all things 64 just for fun, and walked away without buying this after trying it.

If you could test it before you buy, and find the joystick to your liking, then hey it could work. Although there's always the strict console layout to consider if you want to switch. Once again I suggest sticking to a regular good stick.

So my recommendation is to NOT buy this.

Hey, you could just use a 64 controller :awesome: .

Aside from all the joystick problems, the button position seems irrational for smash... You would either have to use your thumb or get used to a terrible layout. Seems like a lose/lose setup

^^Yea, I totally agree.

I tried it on console, and figured that he could switch what was what on emulator. Since he is already uses an arcade stick. Since I'm also ASSUMING it has a similar set up with the buttons in a line like that. Even though there are random ones with totally different button layouts.

Conclusion: On console it would remain practically unplayable, and he should just stick to a quality stick on comp lol.

I was on a "play-Smash-with-an-arcade-stick" mission for a while lol, so this is very interesting to me. Unfortunately, to play high level smash (On console) would take a little more customized attention I'm afraid.

Also @Waxy, No, it's not common bro lol.

Wow, that looks uncomfortable to play smash with. Acade sticks are more for traditional fighters, while smash is more of a platformer, but eh whatever floats your boat, I'm sure you could learn to do tilts.

Might be able to make a stick by destroying a hori and implementing its joystick, Hellas hours involved to do it is imagine. Seems like it might work if you are good with not destroying the horis board.

maybe gona hacking a normal 64 controller to a stick, but the problem is that i dont know how the game detect the tilts and tap in the joystick.
i remember the name of the site that got a guide to make stick so im probably going to make one myself.
the site is http://www.slagcoin.com/
my stick got 10 buttons + stick, the problem that got its buttons are too distant from each other, like 1.4 cms.

the layout im using:
--------------------(start)-(none)
(stick)-------(r button)--(down c)---(left c)----(right c)
--------------(z button)-(a button)-(b button)-(l button)

yep, hand dance across all those buttons.
wanna try other layouts but i feel so confortable with this, any suggestions

tilts would be a problem. analog stick maybe only option?

cheaper version of this may do

http://na.suzohapp.com/joysticks/50287600.htm

problem with analog stick layouts for 64 is that you need to be pressing buttons faster than what is usually required on an arcade stick. probably want index finger or thumb on Z.

for six button my two cents would be

(A) (C) (B) (R)
(Z) (?) (?) (?)

thats bearing in mind thatyou can have possibly two A or B or Z buttons, no need to have more than two C buttons
