Europe [April 4th, 2015] Newry Hosts Super Smash Bros. Melee - Northern Ireland

This will be the very first time Super Smash Bros. Melee will be hosted in Newry, Northern Ireland!

Bellinis, Merchants Quay, Newry, Down BT35 6AH
The venue is right across the road from Newry's Bus Depot so you can't miss it. The tournament will be taking place in a function room on the first floor. Signs will be posted to help direct you there.

Fees
Venue Entry: £5
Melee Singles Entry: £3
Melee Doubles Entry: £2 per player, £4 total

Schedule
Registration will take place on the day between 12:00PM and 1:00PM. Friendlies can take place between this time. Tournament will start no later than 1:30PM and run through until 8:00PM. There won't be much leeway before the start and end of the tournament so Purple Default and Myself will be running the tournament as fast as possible.

Travel
If you are travelling from either Dublin or Belfast to Newry, your best bet is to get the X1 bus which stops in Newry as a midway pick up/drop off point between the two cities. Please make sure you are aware of your own bus times before making the trip. Check Translink and Bus Éirean closer to the date to confirm your times.

If you are driving or getting to Newry by other means, there is paid car parking located close to the venue beside the bus station and there is also a car park near the venue on Monaghan Street in Newry.

Accommodation
Unfortunately Newry doesn't have much to offer in terms of an overnight stay. There are B&Bs located nearby as well as two hotels. Housing isn't an option I'm afraid.

Rules

Sets will be best of 3 until the Winners Final, Losers Final and Grand Final. These will be played best 3 out of 5.

1. First player strikes one stage.
2. Second player strikes two stages.
3. First player strikes one stage.
After each match:
1. Winner announces stage ban
2. Loser chooses counterpick stage
3. Winner chooses their character
4. Loser chooses their character

Life Stealing Is Allowed

Doubles Stage list:
Neutral: Yoshi's Story, Pokémon Stadium, Battlefield, Final Destination, Dream Land 64.
Counter Pick: Kongo Jungle 64

Daves Stupid Rule: You cannot chose a stage you have won on already in a set.
If the timer runs down to zero the player with the highest number of stocks wins. If stocks are tied, the player with the lowest % wins. Sudden Death does not count. If stocks and percentages are the same, the match will be replayed.
Wobbling is allowed up to 300%

All rules will be finalised closer to the tournament date.
