Appropriate Age for Tournament Play?

Alright, so I am 14 years old, have been trying to get on a competitive level at Smash 4, and live right near the Xanadu weekly tournament. My question is, should I go, and would I be out of place. After watching many videos from this tournament, and of course the stream, I have not yet seen anyone my age there. I want to improve my game and I think going to a tournament would help me accomplish that, but I don't know if my age would limit that experience.

Same exact question. I'm thinking of entering melee doubles, but I'm only 12. I want someone to answer soon please.

As long as you apporach the experience maturely, which you sound like you will, I wouldn't expect there to be any problems. Look at the tournament as a learning experience and don't be hard on yourself even if you lose with a 0-2 record. Just gaining some exposure to tournament play when you're a kid can do wonders for your game if you decide to stick with it. You could easily start winning tournaments by the time you're 17 or 18.
