Yeah, sounds like a dumb question, right? Well, maybe it is, but I'd still like to see what everyone else thinks.

So, I don't get to go to tournaments often, seeing how I don't have my own ride and my parents are like "competitive videogames, good one". The only reason I can go to tournaments is because the Palmer Inn is fifteen minutes from where I live, making the drive there not so bad on my parents. This basically means that, if I don't go to APEX, it'll be quite some time until my next tournament.

Next issue, I'm kinda low on cash. Not that low, but I'm pretty cheap when it comes to spending money. Although APEX is a great value, it's a good deal of cash from my perspective, especially when you consider my chances of placing in the money are literally nonexistant.

Speaking of which, my performance in tournaments is very poor. The last one I went to (Airman, I think it was) was going great during friendlies with Wolf, and almost as good in low tiers with Ivysaur. I actually got compliments from consistent tournament-goers. Then singles started, and I got owned really badly. I'm not saying I would've won either of the matches, and I'm going to leave out the multiple (somewhat valid) johns I have and just say that I was playing progressively worse than before. That kinda sucks, where you spend a few hours waiting for your match, only to perform horribly. I REALLY don't want to fall into that situation again, but at least this time there will be more matches.

Unfortunately, I've only gotten worse since last tournament. I'm out of practice, and school has been occupying most of my time lately. Oh yeah, school. I have an AP exam the monday after APEX that I have yet to start studying for, because I need to cram for the one I have the friday right before APEX. Not such a huge deal since my parents are kind enough to let me go anyways, but still something that's holding me back a bit.

Back to what I was saying, I'm out of shape. The only way I'll get back in shape is by getting experience, which isn't tough at tournaments. The only thing is, do I want to spend $10 on singles to get *****, or just have friendlies? I don't want it to be like last time where I wait an eternity in between my matches, but I doubt it'll be that bad. Still, there is a little time concern, because as I said, I really should do SOME work for my AP exam, but APEX is just too tempting.

Basically, I'm left with three choices:

1) Stay at home and study/save cash
2) Go for friendlies, have fun, and hopefully get better
3) Enter singles anyways (Brawl+ singles too if I'm around that late), even though I'll be getting ***** and spending more time at the tourney than I probably should, resulting in my parents potentially getting upset with me (not too fun)

1 isn't really an option though, because my work ethic is borderline nonexistant. However, I have to preregister by today, so I need to find out what I want to do asap. What do you guys think I should do?

I would go. Get experience. I'm just like you, except I decided not to go to ANY of the five AP exams I could have taken (I hate school with a passion, yay). Just answer me a couple questions?

Do you know the subject matter of the AP well?
What are the subjects?
How many AP exams? Just two?

I think if your parents are okay with it you should go to APEX and play friendly matches, you will probably have the chance to play some friendlies with a lot of very experienced smashers.

Let's see...

APUS (friday): No idea what I'm doing, but since my goal is a 4 I'll be fine
Bio (monday): **** bio, that class messes everything up. I'm decently prepared, but I definitely need some sort of review to make sure I know what I need to know.

These are the only ones I have left. Also, way to not take any AP exams, I can only imagine how enjoyable that must be :p

The only thing I'm worried about for friendlies is the time, and if it's worth the cost. Yeah, I know I'm cheap ._. but paying $10 for two hours isn't so great when you consider at every other tournament there it's $3 for the same amount of time.

What I would do is just study on the things you don't know. Don't waste time with anything you have a decent handle on. The APs don't sound like a big problem from what I'm hearing from you. Save for bio, which studying should cover.

Finals are easy. I've also taken the APs before. I'm graduating high school this year, and I know from Junior year that they basically give you a second to answer a hundred questions. I took the English one, and that one destroyed me. Again, no time. Maybe it's different for other subjects.

Now, it must be really easy to do Bio and Us because it's more facts, am I correct? It should not take that long to answer questions that are straightforward. (Unless you're only 'okay' with the course.)

Who cares? Just do it. Tourneys are fun. lol

Yeah, I guess those subjects are more memorization-based than something like English (which I heard was torture). Cramming a bit should suffice well enough.

I think I'm just going to enter the tournament. It should be pools, which should be more time-efficient and also gives me more than two matches if I end up doing horribly.

Go to Apex Ishey.
*Bows down* Yes, my liege...

So, since singles start at 8pm, I'll just bring my bio review book and tell my parents I'll review as I wait, which I probably will since 8 hours is a lot of time. Simple solution to a simple problem, yayy!

Everyone, stop reading this blog and read 'KOTH', because that's actually important.
