Anyone planning a Smash 4 Tournament on the 3DS ?

Not that I know of, but on a side note it will be interesting to see the competitive scene on the 3DS Version.

You could use something like Skype, or some other form of communication with all the participants. If there's a spectator option, the TO can always watch the matches (this can also help when you want to stream the tourney as well).

From there, you can run it like your typical competitive tournament.

Ah I see. I do have skype so that's pretty cool. If there is a spectator mode that would be amazing, but there hasn't been a spectator mode in any previous smash game right?

Well I'm not sure about that, several games have shown they can handle spectator mode remarkably well (League of Legends for example) but it's true I haven't seen Nintendo do that often. However in Mario Kart 8 you do get dropped into Watching a match before you join that group normally so maybe they'll at least implement something close to that...

Time will tell. I want to be optimistic about online play but Brawl set a pretty dismal precedent. x_x

I have been seriously considering making an online tournament website. Maybe have a tournament one weekend a month.

I would need help with this. Someone who would want to help develop and create the website, and I would need some people to help spectate matches and such. I want to prevent any sort of cheating.

I don't mind putting the time and effort into setting up the tournaments, I just need help getting that far and spectating matches.

I would like to keep track of old tournaments and stats like character usage and the such.

Would anyone be interested?

Im considering doing online tournaments for the Wii U version (Because I can't record/stream a 3DS). I do know someone who might be able to do the 3DS version soon though. But I'll post more info on it when I know if its happening or not. Need a way to really be able to contact people when its their turn

I was going to do some sort of online tourney event towards the middle of October. Figured I'd give some people time to unlock everything but we'll see.

I'm definitely going to run a tournament for the 3DS version of 4, but not on the release day or the 2-3 days after so everyone can realistically have enough time to get at least acquainted with the controls and overall flow of the game.

A friend and I are looking into hosting a series of online tournaments on the 3DS soon. I have no means of recording gameplay or anything, but it could be worth looking forward to.

EDIT: Actually, we have decided to host one (hopefully the first in a series) to take place late on some Saturday nights. Should be fun.
