Anyone having problems recovering on the GameCube controller?

Ironically, I didn't have much of this issue on the 3DS. But even if I go right, up-right, Up B, Ike will sometimes still face left when he's recovering. The difference between this and Brawl is that Ike dies if his back faces the ledge.

The problem here is that I was fighting a tough Olimar player and relied heavily on air-game and edgeguarding to beat him. I had to rely on walk-off Fairs and whatnot to damage him, which meant walking off the ledge (facing away from it) and coming back on stage. Even when I tried to make him face the ledge, I died at least 4 times due to a misdirected Aether.

Has anyone else been having this problem lately?

Potential reasoning for your problem...

This time around, if you're using the c stick, the control stick inputs are ignored. So maybe you're still holding forward on the c stick as you push back on the control stick?
