While yes you can get duplicates, it seems it is really easy to get custom moves in Smash Run unless you are not good at finding items in this mode. You are guaranteed to either ge a move or a piece of equipment for the character you use. I have only been playing the game for a little over 5 hours (1hour and a half online and beat several classic modes.) and I already have all of Robins and Bowser Jr.s moves and a bunch of others. I just got the 50 special moves milestone. I have mostly been playing Smash Run with Robin, Mii Brawler, and Bowser Jr. If you are having trouble with custom moves, Smash Run is the way to go. Don't forget by doing Smash Run with a particular character you unlock equipment exclusive to that character which is pretty cool. Anyone else find it easy to unlock custom moves in Smash Run or am I just getting lucky? I guess people have been complaining about how hard it is because they have been doing Classic mode instead of Smash Run.

I agree that smash run is generally faster than classic, but it's still a long road to unlock every custom and some characters are pretty bad at smash run which really doesn't help (trying to do it with Duck Hunt is... painful; he's just not built for it at all). You alsoh ave to realize that, since duplicates are possible, you'll get new customs at a much higher rate early on than later. I'm getting them really fast now too, but I already can easily see that the last few are going to be... fun.

I see you bring up some good points. I completely forgot to factor in characters that will be a pain to play as in this mode lol

Customs are easy to get using the classic mode roulette wheel exploit. Just use the home button to pause the roulette wheel when a wrench will appear soon, and buffer this (repeatedly press the home button) to advance the wheel until the next icon will be a wrench. Then return to the game from the home screen one last time, but hold A as it unpauses.
