A couple of friends and I recently started a club at school for specifically smash bros. We have like 6 TVs of melee and brawl but a majority of melee. About 30 people, more or less, show up each week. Just wondering if anyone else had any smash related clubs at their school? It'd be great to hear!

It's not too uncommon for many colleges to have clubs of their own that meet up weekly, big or small. Great to start getting better from in high school - wish I knew smashers back then to get an edge over the uni competition. Think of all that extra free time you have in high school as your one-time hyperbolic time chamber to get good before you don't have enough time work college studies / jobs aha

There are only like a handful of kids at my school who play, and all of them either just picked it up, or can't stay after for tournaments. We have a games club but they play brawl. I'm a sophomore and I still get my parents to drive me to practice on weekends. At least next year I can drive.

We have an eSports club and they had a GameCube day a few weeks ago. Oddly enough, very few people there play any video game competitively. Not knowing this, my group of Smash friends and I went there for GameCube day. After everyone was tired of getting consistently 3 or 4-stocked for about a hour, we were kicked out so they could play "competitive" Kirby Air Ride.

My school has many who are casually interested in Smash bros, but my dorm mate is the only one on campus who plays Melee with any serious competitive intention.

Perhaps in the future we could work on getting something started, especially since my part of the state has no Melee scene whatsoever at the moment.

Trying to grow the at - school competitive scene in Lower Alabama. The struggle is real.

Seriously though, I've been secretly growing the competitive scene at my school and helping out some of the other public schools in the area for about half a year now. My dream is to get school funding one day and be able to get them to cover venue fee, gamecubes, lettermans, the works. Since our school can be pretty tolerant at times, and considering we have more players than our chess team that gets like whatever the hell they want, I'm crossing my fingers. Lol the whole idea is just the funniest thing ever to me when i think about it for a while, it really gets me excited.

One of my local college's has a club, its Rochester's Institute of Technology, Although i attend that i also would like to start a group for my own school at Monroe Community College based on the competition called melee games, if you havent heard of that its where your team of 5 people min-15 people max face off in a 5v5 crew battle, sadly its only college's, BUT my younger brother and his friend are looking to start competitive smash at his school as well Hopefully Melee will one day be looked at as a competitve activity in school :/
