I;m not even sure if Charizard counts, since I consider him along with Squirtle and Ivysaur to be Project M characters, but I never like Pokemon Trainer in Brawl and found him to be one of my least favorite characters. Which was a shame, since Charizard is my second favorite Pokemon (first is Jigglypuff) and I wanted to play as him without the stupid trainer mechanics. Come Project M, and now Charizard flies solo as an extremely fun aerial combo character. With new toys for him to play with like his Down-B, Side-B, D-Throw, and U-Throw, Charizard realizes that he can train himself better than his own trainer can.
