Any guides out there? maybe tips for specific challenges/events? Guides on what to use the hammer on?

Most of the particularly difficult challenges can't be hammered. As for others, the Wii U Solo Modes thread has tips for them (and is also the place to ask if you can't find the ones you're after).

I've also found that Youtube has some pretty good strategies if you can figure out how to search for 'em.
