The Dolphin Emulator is what people use to play melee on PCs. It is mainly used for netplay, which means you play online against other players.

Since demand for netplay is high and competitive melee players are very particular about input lag, a modified build of dolphin, called Faster Melee has been developed, which reduced input lag by a significant amount.

If you want to use the regular version of Dolphin (for offline play), go here. Look on youtube for tutorials on how to set it up.

If you want to play online, get the FasterMelee build here and follow their setup tutorial. To find people to play, register on smashladder.com and go to the "matchmaking" tab. If you have any questions, people there will help you out.

You can also run gamecube games on a softmodded WiiU. For that, look for something like "WiiU Nintendot tutorial" on youtube.
