I've been playing this game for at least a year but I noticed on almost every server I see purple checkered textures and/or red "ERROR"s everywhere.

How do I get rid of these because it kinda ruins the game for me.

I play this game on Steam for the record.

My copy of Portal did this once, and that uses the same engine.

Somehow, your texture file got corrupted. Deleting the game and redownloading it should fix the issue. If not, run some diagnostics on your video board and/or driver.

It's definitely not a PC video board problem because I am using a rather new PC. Only had it for 5 months. I deleted/redownloaded it many times; didn't work. It seems to be a rather common problem and from what I have gathered, you need to buy specific Valve games in order to get those textures. It's kind of a ripoff. But oh well.

You have TF2 installed? It's free and runs on the same engine. Also, you can download the Source SDK Base for free, which should have all the textures and such you need in it if what you posted above is actually the issue.

I do have Team Fortress 2 and I recently got Counter-Strike: Source. Which help only a little because I still see errors and pink textures. Do you have a link to the Source SDK Base?

Pull up your Steam. Go Library -> Click where it says "Games" -> At the bottom of the list it says tools, click that. You'll find it in there.
