So i was playing around on final destination and I JUST figured out that if u quickly go to the side when dolphin slashing, Marth goes a little farther that usual. (about an inch on final destination

(its the same as how Roy's Blazer works when u make it go further and more horizontal.)

are there any benefits of this? (besides a possible farther recovery?)

I've used it just for that extra distance. I mean, I can't find any other use outside of being able to recover for the ledge or above the ledge.
XD saved me quite a few times though. This is just my expiriences though, not sure on everyone else here.

You can use it to recover quicker if you are about to get edgehogged. You can also use it to hit opponents who try to edgeguard you who are further into the stage. It's mainly used to get you on the stage rather than on the edge, like you said. Never use it to try and sweetspot a lightshield edgehog though because you spend more time at the top of the upb when compared to the normal dolphin slash.

I think it extends the reach of the attack's sweetspot, not sure on that one though.

I don't think so, but I"m not too sure either.
I just know that it helps you get on the stage in a faster and safer way. XD I owe alot of games this move just cause its saved my neck a few times from getting the ledge (and my opponent) before a crucial ledgehog.
