So, i've started going into smash's competitive world a while ago and I main sheik. I've read guides on the character and watched tournament videos (Mr. R, Nietono, False) and that's helped me a lot. But I've hit a wall now, and don't know how to keep going.

Here's some videos of me on a couple of matchs:

I would like to hear your opinions, and any advice you could give me. Thanks!

On a completely non-Shiek specific piece of advice but in general - is that you need to identify your bad habits (hopefully better smashers here will do that) and drill them out of yourself - bad habits, even if you execute them well, limit the skill cap/ceiling that you can achieve, and could well be hindering those aspects of the game you are doing well.

Its very powerful to be able to identify them yourself, but getting it outsourced (in lack of a coach in this circumstance) will be great as well.

I am not putting you in this category at all, but I deal a lot with players who are happy with poor habits because they execute them fantastically, opposed to seeking to improve it. I've personally been guilty of this myself - and even after I retired from competitive gaming can think of cases where I just fell back on old habits because I didn't want to learn new tech that was available when I did play casually.

Well, i've followed your advice and have been watching replays searching for any habits I could have... it's helped me a lot with, now I know why I die... Still I've got to practice to keep myself from keep doing that bad stuff... you know what they say: Bad habits die hard

Thanks

I'd say that it would benefit you to work on your spacing. This is something that I also have trouble with. Sheik has decent range to her moves, so don't be afraid to use the very tip of your attacks (f-tilt in particular, you generally don't want to be right on top of your opponent but rather just outside of their reach when you use it.) Be more aggressive with f-air chains; it's a fast move that you can usually chain 3-4 on if you fast-fall after the first two. Work on mixing up your recovery to the ledge as well; don't just up-b and immediately land on the stage, a good player WILL punish it.
