Any advice for a new face on the tournament scene?

I'm trying to get into more tournaments for Smash Wii U and maybe some Project M in the future. Are there any basics I need to know about getting into the tournament scene? (idk if there is a thread or something I can look at)

Depending on where you are you should start a facebook group to get people to know about it then find a dedicated venue to host it. You can ask people to bring setups and stuff like that.

Are you talking about hosting or just attending? If you're just attending, the best advice is to brush up on a character or two (the character sections on SmashBoards are great for this) and then just show up. You'll probably get creamed, but you'll learn a lot. You'll learn even more if you talk to people while there.
