I will never tell. :D
I saw on the news that protesters in Oakland, CA were protesting in front of a Marines recruiting office and were trying to kick the recruiters out of "their town."

I also saw that a man, recorded on a security camera, was riding a bicycle and placed a bomb in front of a recruiting office in New York.

I believe this is total bull ****. Why would anyone deny humans the right to join the military? I read about a man in the Marines who went AWOL because... he didn't like violence?! He's never even fought yet! He's probably in prison now.

It is said by Franklin Delano Roosevelt, "No man who is not willing to bear arms and fight for his rights can give a good reason why he should be entitled to the privilege of living in a free country."

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I'm a big anti-war activist.
That being said, everyone should have the right to join the military.
You don't join and go AWOL because you don't like violence. Please...

Yea, by joining you are signing a legal agreement to the military. And blowing up recruitment offices is ridiculous.

But, I am against any for of conscription or draft.

Eh, in my town the marine recruiters walk around the school cafeteria trying to get people to enlist, and they're willing to just about lie and manipulate anyone into joining. I guess the town felt like the marines were stealing their kids. Not that I condone the bombing, but I'd assume that's their reasoning for it.

If any US citizen joins the army not thinking they're defending America's rights is simply deluded. America is not being invaded. When you join the US army today, you're much more likely to be sent to kill and die for America's interests, not its freedom.

I think Eor hit the nail on the head.

The issue isn't necessarily that they want to deny people the right to enlist or serve.

But if you've ever met a military recruiter, well... they'll lie, manipulate, and deceive to no end to achieve their ends. This is not some deluded statement or an anti-war sentiment; it is a fact.

I have respect for the people that join the military, it's not something I could ever do. But if you plan to join or if you are interested, the absolute worst source of information is a military recruiter.
