Izaw vs Haze!

Link vs Falcon!

Oh the lacking enthusiasm during the actual commentary was compensated by the immense hype for the upcoming commentary, allow me to reiterate:

Izaw vs Haze!

For those who don't know what I'm referring to, it's the vVv commentary on Mr. R vs Leon.

I haven't got the foggiest idea what vVv is trying to achieve. If they want more visitors on their site, with that being their one and only goal, then I have to commend them on their efforts. Cooperating with Izaw is, indeed, the number 1 way to get attention. However, the way this cooperation is put into practice renders all other aspects of the whole project dull and senseless. Izaw vs Haze, 'two amazing European players'. Well, frankly put, Izaw is good and Haze is a random. I don't see the point of featuring Izaw in every other commentary apart of getting views, the matches he's featured in are not top-level and are only interesting to watch if you want aggro, you can get that in most other European sets as well.

Even then, the aggro in Leon vs Mr. R was criticized, but Izaw's Wolf aggro was well-recieved. Obviously it would be strange to negatively address the uploader's playstyle, but it's rather crass to be so inconsistent with the criticism, especially considering the fact that most criticism on the Marths was ignorant and inexperienced. The commentary seemed only to serve to denote how 'odd' certain 'decisions' (most of those being input errors) were, rather than explaining them.

Oh gosh triple counter when trying to recover. Yeah, Rapture and PD are most perceptive, they failed to note how Leon's offstage pressure is so much different from Mr. R's, and how strong it actually was, how Mr. R could have reacted differently or how the decision to use counter was actually not necessarily a bad decision. None of that was observed, just the 'oddness'.

Remarkable.

'They should make use of Marth's ground game more'. They stressed this point so much yet they failed to understand why Marth's ground game is suboptimal in the ditto. It's not weird that PD thinks the ditto is boring, he doesn't seem to understand it that well. It's difficult to appreciate a matchup if you aren't aware of the details.

Obnoxiously though, the Izaw fanbase is a huge fan of the commentaries regardless. They get to see their hero every once in a while, their hungering for more Swedish Smash is satiated. Their lives can go on. If the viewers like the product, you'd say there's nothing wrong with it. Not necessarily, no. This criticism only notes how the commentary is done so suboptimally. Commentate on more worthwhile sets, Izaw doesn't need more publicity. In fact, if the man wants more attention he can easily get it without vVv. Give the viewers a better actual view on the European metagame, let more experienced players commentate. Let Europeans commentate.

Of course, this doesn't mean I don't give vVv credit for doing what they do. Their intentions are well, they just suck at putting their intentions into practice the way the could (and should!). Cease commentating on Izaw until you've actually put work into a LOT of other players, keep the variation coming (and withhold thyself from making me produce brainfarts).

Let's just pretend not to be pretentious.
