Analog stick problem

I've been a bit of a lurker but this is my first post so forgive me if this is not the proper avenue for this.

I've been attempting to resurrect my old controllers and successfully soldered one of those cheap stick boxes with the blue potentiometers. It works like new for the first minute and then it's like it's possessed and then veers sharply right perpetually.

If I let it set for a few hours and plug it back in it does the same. Works for a minute and veers hard right (with the analog stick in neutral). Any experts care to offer their expertise?

You will have more success posting your question in the technical knowledge thread as it will notify all the tech-savy users who are already active in it.

What didn't work with the controller in the first place that you wanted to solder a 3rd party stick? Remember that you can replace the control stick stickbox with that of the c-stick, so it might make more sense to put the 3rd party stickbox on the c-stick since the difference in quality isn't as important there.
then it's like it's possessed and then veers sharply right perpetually.
I don't what you mean with "possessed" - do you mean it jumps all over the place or does it only veer to the right?
My knowledge on electronics is very limited but if it only veers to the right, then maybe you just got a bad model and the potentiometer for the x-axis is broken. Those chinese stickboxes usually come in like packs of 2 or 3 so maybe you got another one you could try?
To my knowledge, you could also swap the two potentiometers that are on the controller right now and see if the stick then veers upwards. If so, it's probably a bad pot.
Maybe also check your soldering.
