There are already several methods of unlocking custom moves in Smash 4 Wii U. However, I find this one to be the most effective.

Buy some Amiibo (I suggest at least 3 or 4, and 8 would get the best results and most prizes), set them in a 99 stock match and do whatever the hell you want until the match ends. When you come back after the match, exit Smash mode and scan the Amiibo. Proceed to go to the Amiibo section, scan them, and collect your rewards.

I find this process to be great, and I have most of the custom moves as a result.

What do you think of this method? Discuss.

Not bad, though the cost barrier will undoubtedly deter some.

While perhaps not as quick or reliable, you can instead just set up a game of Smash Tour and leave the game idle. Eventually each step will time out, causing turns to happen automatically. To my knowledge, this is the only other passive method that doesn't rely on a turbo controller.

Relying on amiibo figures really isn't the best answer for getting custom special moves. They can increase your gold supply though.
