Press the EJECT Button, remove the Game Disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii Operations Manual for more information.

Anyone know how to fix this, and why it says this?

I was on Mario Kart Wii (on Mushroom Peaks)

I think your Wii cannot read discs anymore. Try to play other games. If the error still occurs, then you'll need to send in the Wii to get it fixed.

Make sure the disc is clean; some Wii's are sensitive to disc blemishes. Drive could have failed, too.

I could play Mario Party 9 for 1-2 hours without any trouble.

Looking at my Mario Kart Wii disc, I can say that there are probably a good 30+ small scratch marks scattered everywhere...

So it might just be the disc. Also this is the first and so far only time it's ever happened... so if it's specifically the disc, I should just get a new one right?

There's a drive cleaner, but what about a disc cleaner? As in one that simply removes marks, and not literally wipe the data off as well?

You can try resurfacing the disc...don't know how well that works for Wii discs (if there's even a difference), but resurfacing has saved at least a couple old CD-Roms of mine.
