So, I don't own the Wii U version yet, but one of the biggest features that I'm the most curious about are the amiibos!

Really, the entire concept is cool, but, question is, does it actually function well?

Do you guys feel like the amiibos actually learn well and get much tougher to fight against? How well of a substitute of a player would they be?

Just pretty interested in this feature.

They learn very well, much more like playing against another human than a computer.
I do think they level too fast though, I had all three of mine to 50 within a few hours.

Finally, I will have enough friends to play 8 player smash with

That's good to hear. I wasn't thinking of picking any up until Shulk's comes out, but if they work this well I might be tempted to buy one before.

Ooh. Wow!

I've heard they continue learning past level 50 though?

If you're interested to see them in action, Pro Jared played with one at some event a few weeks ago, and was allowed to film it. His thoughts on it were pretty positive.

Ah...

Do the levels actually do anything...?
I'm not sure /exactly/ what they do, but they're input levels. Thats all I know. I mean, some level 9's can be pretty tough. I've heard stories of people's doubles partner being replaced by level 9's because of x event making him unable to play that match, and their team winning. My experience with the AI in the 3DS version is mixed, because (and I'm sure you've noticed too) they arent consistent. Sometimes, lvl 9's will act like lvl 7s in one match, and the next match they will play comparable to my human training partner (with better powershielding no AT's, and terrible aerial/offstage play.)

Yeah! That's what got me much more interested in the feature!

Now that it's out, there's definitely going to be much more insight from people.

Ah. I too had my interest piqued by Jared.

Indeed, I was just hoping it would come faster.. Haha. I know the game has only been out a day, but get on it people!

My level 50 Fox Amiibo has gotten decent at shield grabbing and punishing, and they did a dthrow to fair string a couple times against me.

I'm trying to get my Link amiibo used to projectiles by facing DHD and it's going well. He does a lot of run>shield.

I do wonder what the limit of their intelligence is. Can a amiibo trained by Mew2King be really top?

It has potential, but I have no idea their limits. Testing will show results, however.

Personnally, my peach amiibo was really dumb at first, obviously. I wanted her to use float efficiently, so i decided to show her how to do it. A few levels/ matches later, she low glided Bair'd me for an edgeguard.

And about rolling, shorthop, fastfalling, perfect shielding or retreating aerial ? If you never use rolling, your amiibo never use it ?

I also reserved an Kirby amiibo and I think it could be hard to learn all the copy habilities strategy to him...

You can't choose what your amiibo learn during a match so, maybe the repetition of movements leads to more controls on their skills ?
