For Smash, specifically, it's going to allow you to train a new NPC fighter that literally learns your fighting style as it grows, and can go up to level 50 instead of just 9!

For someone that doesn't live near a lot of people, and has crappy internet, this is a good way to get a tougher opponent to fight against.

Now, if you would....
Imagine 7 level 50 Amiibo's in 8 player Smash, vs you.
Holy.
F***ing.
Crap.

I think I'm gonna have a LOT of fun with these Amiibos.XD

I'm studying abroad on the opposite side of the world from where all my friends and family are. Smash bros used to be and still is super popular with them. I'll be buying Amiibos of all of their main characters when I get to visit for a month. Since I live alone in a condo and no one really speaks very much english where I live it'll be nice to be able to bring my buddies back with me so we can all enjoy the game together.

Edit: I know that avatar. Hey it's the Mock Pride.

The different is the standard AI script is there from day 1. Never changes. The Amiibo AI script supposedly learns from you so better beat you over time. How good this learning is, in time we shall find out. Will a Lv50 Amiibo be better than the standard in game AI? Is that worth the Amiibo price for each character? I think that's what we all want to know.

and from what people have been saying, they are able to learn a decent amount, such as them nt knowing how to use items when playing with items off, and them not using certain moves. I think these are already great additions, and I think we will learn more new things as we continue.

I sincerely doubt that's true.
The fact that they can learn to play as you do and learn to counter your strategies, over time, is, in and of itself, enough to make them at least a little harder than a lvl 9.
How far they take that learning, and by extension how much higher up they can get from a lvl 9, is up for debate, but at the very least of the least, being able to play like a human player makes them a step above a normal CPU.
