Amiibo training question

I finally caved and thought I'd give the amiibo thing a try, since it seemed pretty awesome getting to train it and give it new gear/etc. And the idea of my amiibo learning from fighting against CPUs and myself gave the impression that it would start out like a sucky novice and eventually build up into a badass.
But holy hell... in the span of like an hour playing against level 9 CPUs and then mirror matches against me as Luigi, it went from barely registering one KO against the computer to straight up whooping me and drawing pretty much even with level 9s.
I've played Smash Bros *original N64 version only, until this one* for the better part of the entire time it's been in existence, and am by no means a pro player; but like to think holding my own against an amiibo that's supposed to be a (temporary) protégé should be a no brainer.
So, how am I supposed to "train" my amiibo when it goes from zero-to-buttkicking in no time?

Well if it was able to do that then that means you probably did I good job. Amiibos play off of your fighting style, they learn and copy what you do while also learning how to counteract what you've taught them. If you are unhappy with the fact that it learned so quickly I would suggest trying to change up your fighting style mid match. If you are saying you don't like how fast it learned and how good it is then I'm sorry amiibos are meant to do that and there's really no way around it. Hope this helps and if you have any further questions just ask :D

I looked up some stuff on how to "properly" train it, and went with the advice here:
http://moargeek.com/2014/12/02/smas...reaping-benefits-training-effective-fighters/

Guess I was super surprised how fast it adapted (again, I'm by no means a pro at this), since it seemed like there was gonna be more of a learning curve of teaching it before it could open up a can on me. Finally beat it one on one though, barely. So now order is restored.
Thanks!

Also if you want and this is just a possibility if you set a handicap for 300% or so and fight the amiibo it will learn to doge and fear everything in fear of dying by getting hit once
But only do this at high levels because you don't want it to rely on dodging everything

One thing I don't get about amiibos... do they work on both 3ds AND wii u version of smash? am still confused about how an amiibo can only work on one game

The amiibos are like the sky landers where they have a little chip in the bottom embedded with a code that tells what they are and retains the information they receive through gameplay. In order to use this they use a NFC (near-field communicator) which is only compatible with some devices ex. The Wii u game pad and the New 3ds systems. So yes they are able to be trained on both the Wii U and the New 3ds.
You are able to play multiplayer with an amiibo with someone who has an older 3ds but they are not able to input or train the amiibo directly.
Hope this help and if you need any clarification just ask!

My amiibos have very decent AI imo, but the thing that makes them almost impossible for me to beat is the stats that I give them. I feel like it's better to play against them if you don't bother with any of their stats, that way you can continue to fight them for a much longer time after lvl 50 and you'll still have balanced matches.

Get better. :troll: Amiibos learn from your playstyle, if you do something different can be the game changer for them if that helps you defeat them.

But my Lugy:4luigi: amiibo is trained to win 1v2 level 9 cpus with custom at this point. My 10 other amiibos reached 50 also and hold up a fight.

Have you put all your amiibos in a battle and see which one is the best?

Yes. I have 3 amiibos evenly matched from their matches so far.
:4mario: Bidizzle (with some stat boost)
:4mario: (Custom painted) Fire Mario (No boost at all)
:4luigi: Lugy (With over 100+ attack and good defense and decent speed along with healing sheilding, explosive perfect sheilding, and life steal. He also uses the bouncy fireball)
These 3 are the ones that can win 1v2 level 9s.

As for the toughest amiibo for me to handle :4luigi:. Mostly because if you charge at him, he can perfect sheild and explode along with healing himself. If I try to space with projectiles he can shield it and be healed from it. I can do a lot of combos at him but he can just do 1 cyclone to do the same amount of damage along with healing back to his normal state. Not to mention he knows some combos I taught him and can use his taunt to spike people. You can't even foot stool him easily. It's hard to win but I've done it before.
