Amiibo Randomly Does Nothing?

I couldn't find a proper place to post this. My Ridley Amiibo was doing great and all of a sudden after any given move it will randomly sit and do nothing until it gets hit by something. It only started happening against a second fight with a lv9 K Rool CPU (Learnign off!) but now it does it against everything. This is really annoying since this was never happening the past couple days I've had it. Has this happened to anyone else? If so did you fix it? And if so, how?

12/30/18 EDIT: It seems I've remedied the issue by getting into a few matches with it myself on top of what I was trying before. But I'd still be curious to hear if anyone else has this issue.
