Does anyone actually know how these things work?

I found myself retraining my yoshi amiibo about 5 times already, and everytime it comes out basically the same regardless of how i trained it and what moved I would use against it.

Does anyone actually know how these things are programmed? I am to understand they only store a tiny amount of data, which to me means that it just holds a sort of code that tells it which AI preset to set it to in the game. I've heard a lot of theories and read a lot of guides about amiibo training, but i'd like to hear from someone with actual knowledge about the programming of the amiibos. Thanks guys!

Also does anyone understand how amiibo gifts work? do they get more gifts if they get more kills? or is it just based on play time?

I don't even know how to get a gift from an amiibo lol.

Also, I'm pretty sure there's a thread VERY similar to this somewhere here on the forums...I read over it and it was determined that this happens a lot with only Yoshi amiibos.

From what I understand, they basically store fighting data and the Wii U takes that data and plugs it into the AI algorithm.

A simple example: your Amiibo learns you taunt 90% of the time after you kill someone. Your Amiibo will store that value (.9) and then the Wii U will reference that percentage after you kill someone.

So, in theory, it should act very differently if you play extremely differently when training it.

As weird/stupid as this sounds. After a battle, it will ask you if you want to tweak your amiibo and then save it to the amiibo. If the amiibo has a present icon, that means it has stuff. To my knowledge, the only way to do this is to go back to the amiibo section, re-scan your amiibo and you'll get your gifts.

Like I said, weird/stupid.

To me, they're just CPU with increased attack and defense that you have to work to make even more overpowered than they already are. They do almost EVERYTHING their CPU counterparts do.
