Hibiki for Smash 4 DLC!
For those of us training up the new Amiibo, I thought a thread should be created for documenting our findings and training strategies.
What works, what doesn't, the Amiibos capabilities and their limitations.
I'll start. I purchased a Villager on release day with the intent of reaching him to use nothing but the tree. Aptly, he is ned Treellager. While I did put him in a few real fights and occasionally used other attacks against him, largely I took him all the way from level 1 to 50 by beating him with only the tree fall attck. The intent was to teach him to use the tree by showing it's value to him across many fights. I've noted that regular Villager CPUs already have a strong aversion to the tree attack.
However, I was not able to break this habit. At one point, I evem enlisted a friend for 20 levels to play another Villager, putting us each on a team against him and killing him over and over again with only the tree. Yet still I have never seen him use the tree. The only thing I seem to have instilled in him is how to beat the tree.
While most CPU of all levels quite blindly run into the tree (Well documented), Treellager has become very proficent at beating the tree. He initiates just as the tree is wilting, before it is even visual as if he is counting the seconds. He baits the tree out by dashing towards it and then rolling away. He knows his net reaches right through the tree for a grapple. I've even seen him throw a Gyroud at the tree, which I pocketed and then threw back at him. (As I often did in his training.) This time, he pocketed back that Gyroid and flung it back at the tree, then spawned another Gyroid right behind it. Both Gyroids killed the tree, and he was immediately behind them ready to attack me.
I posit that Amiibos do not entirely adopt your habits, but also how best to counter them to simulate the feeling of growth.
