If you want to get into competitive play then you are ready for it. You are probably not going to win your first time going to a tournament but just going to tournaments and doing a lot of friendlies while you are there is the best way to improve.

Thanks for the response, I've been waiting a while for one, but I don't think you understood my question. I was asking if I am skilled enough to WIN my first tournament. Sorry that I was so vague.

Realistically, you won't be winning much when you first start playing competitively, and that's totally fine! The best part about going to tournaments early on in your competitive lifespan is to get the chance to learn how to get better. You'll have the opportunity to get real-time feedback on your playstyle; most people are more than willing to give you pointers after a match if you ask them for help. I know that it helped me out tremendously: I was able to pick out things that aren't working with my playstyle (such as my problem with being overly aggressive), and I even got to spend time with some players to play a long series of matches with a few players later on to help adjust to playing without those bad habits. If you ask for tips, you will definitely recieve them.

I'll say the same thing that I tell anyone who is interested in competitive play: if you're interested at all, go for it!

If you have to ask if you're ready, then yes, you're ready.

If you have to ask if you're going to win, then no, you probably won't win.

To be honest, it's better that that's the case. If you win your first tournament, you might get a brief buzz off of it, but you won't really benefit in the grand scheme of things. Getting beaten is good, and it demonstrates that there's probably a decent quantity of better players than you in your scene. Keep going and keep getting beaten by them. Every time you get beaten, find out why, and do what you can so you don't get beaten the next time. Keep going and developing until you don't get beaten. Then you will be ready to win.

There is nothing wrong with being bopped in tournament. It just means you lost to a better player, and that you have things to improve on. Don't take losses so hard, even if you get two stocked or whatever. And be sure to ask players you lose to especially things you could have done better. Even if the match was played off someone else's setup, I would ask them politely if you could save a replay of your matches and have them send them to you later, even better if there's a stream that you could ask to be on. It's always good in my experience to review and learn your habits and see what you can do from there.

HUH? How are we supposed to know? You didn't post any videos indicating your skill.
