Hey I recently got into Netplay on this game and I gotta say i LOVE it. Now, in Dolphin you have this chat where you can chat with your opponent and poeple always say it's so cheap to throw from guard and stuff. Is Mewtwo's throw really that broken? I don't stand on one spot and wait for poeple to come to me to grab them (I don't think that would even work) but when I see my opponent is being really aggressive, I just guard. Then they usually do a dash attack or something, which I then punish with a throw and sometimes followup with a spike/meteor smash (dunno what Mewtwo's dair is).
I really care about this kind of thing, so is it considered that bad or is it just a good tactic that poeple are jelly about?
Edit: Just noticed there's a character discussion forum but it's not really specifically for Mewtwo, more for shield to throw in general

Shield grabbing (grabbing from guard as you call it) isnt annoying. People who say its cheap probably say so because they cant deal with it. This is a common reaction many people seem to have in these sorts of situations lol

Always shield grabbing will get you punished against better opponents and then you will realize that it isnt so "cheap" like some players may make it out to be.

Cool, I'll just continue playing this way and if someone finds a counter I'll just have to think of something else :D.

Exactly. You found a way to punish opponents for being too aggressive. If it works, it works. Nothing wrong with playing intelligently!

Opponents will learn and adapt and thats when you look for other options. Good luck. :)

I played against a Sonic on netplay who spammed ball moves the entire match, so I was forced to just stand around and kick him when he got close. After it was done, he told me I didn't deserve to win because "I played boring". Maybe I should've stepped it up, or stopped being too slow.

If you're winning, **** everything about what everyone else says. Everyone ******* about HBox but you don't see him changing for the world. He's there to win, and you probably are too. Just do it.

I've found that on Netplay people have problems dealing with good shielding (myself included.) I've had one guy complain that I "Shouldn't be winning" because I was "spamming moves". Flare blade for the win!

Hit me up on Netplay if you want to play sometime, I've yet to see a M2 player on Netplay.

Though I don't play Netplay, I've heard that many people on Netplay are extreme scrubs and only complain and john about any little thing when they lose. So don't take those complaints too seriously.

I'd have to contest this. Most people I've played on Netplay are incredibly friendly. Sure, I've played a couple of mean people, but everyone I play seems to be extremely laid back. I could be playing the wrong (or right) people though.

I used to play Sonic and I had no idea his down-B was even useful.
Then when I jumped into the competitive scene I saw every Sonic player fighting like that.
That's really his meta? Such a shame, really.

it's pretty safe, and i think people spam it because wizzrobe is really good at using it for approaches and combos.

the idea of something being "cheap" should never, ever be blamed on the player that learns to be cheap. if it's in the game, and you know how to use it, that's knowledge that makes you a good player, and wanting to be a good player is probably why you're into a competitive-centric mod to begin with

Agreed. They abuse it to the point of becoming easy to predict and handle, which is kind of ironic, since it's a technique that exists to counteract both of those things.

You are, and that's not really wrong, but it's not really right either.

"Scrubs complain, winners adapt" As has been already stated, people who complain when losing would complain about losing to ANYTHING. "Fox is so cheap, all he does is dance on my face!" "Jigglypuff is so cheap, all HBox does is outplay me!" Don't worry about what randoms online say, they're probably just upset that they couldn't flex their ego by winning in a video game.

My first match againts a sonc went like this.

I went in with my usual samus techniques, then soon discovered he was too quick and pouncing on everything.

so i stopped moving. and just Ftilt and WDFmash anytime he charged in with some spinning move.

i felt SO bored doing it, but, meh, thats what it takes.

The sonic player I faced was considerably less experienced than me so I got away with just planting morph ball bombs to stuff his approaches >_>

Kicking and wdfsmash sounds more exciting.
