Alternate Costume Creativity

I was recently playing Melee, and I tried out some different costumes for certain characters. It's really fun to play as Daisy, Blood Falcon, and Wario (<_<). I would really like for each character to have their own individual alternate costume turning them to another character, or just another form. Here are some I thought of.

Link: OoT design
Fox: Wolf, (Falco if he doesn't make it as a PC)
Lucas: Ness (if he doesn't make it as a PC)
Sonic: Shadow, green skin (similar to Manik from the cartoon)
Kirby: Korby (?)
Samus: Fusion Suit, Dark Smaus (and Dark Zamus)
Snake: Liquid Snake
Mario: Fire Suit, Wario Suit, Luigi Suit, Tanooki Suit, Classic Mario (he has the Luigi outfit, already confirmed in the demo. I fear this might hurt his chances. I highly doubt it though)
Pikachu: Female tail with lighter skin, shiny Pikachu, Pikachu with trainer's cap
Bowser: Dry Bones
Zelda: OoT design
Wario:Classic Wario
Ike: Sigurd, Marth, Roy
Pokemon Trainer: Proffessor Oak, FR/LG female, GSC Trainer, Crystal, RSE Trainers and D/P Trainers. (There is no doubt about a GS remake. If you hack DP, one of the possible regions a Pokemon maybe obtained from is Johto. There might be a GS remake model character in).
Diddy: ****

It woudl be neat if you had to un-lock the alternate costumes. For example, getting the Link and Zelda OoT designs would require you getting the OoT trophy. Using both Lugia and Ho-Oh from aPokeball, then collecting their trophies might unlock PT's alt costume for the GS generation.

Of course, these costumes wouldn't change your hitbox, nor would they alter any stats. They would simply be aesthetical. The one thing they would warrant is the announcer stating their names after they win. E.G
This game's winner is...Blood Falcon"

Yeah, a lot of people have suggested this but as far as I know there isn't an actual thread for it already.

I like some of your ideas, but others I think maybe go a little too far. In most cases I wouldn't want there to be costumes that make the character look like a completely different character (although I think some like Dark Samus would be reasonable enough), but having something more than just colour swaps would definitely be good. I also like your idea about unlocking costumes, and that idea about getting Lugia and Ho-Oh from a Pokeball to unlock a new Trainer costume is especially good, I think.

Samus probably has some of the most possibilities, with the Fusion suit (from Fusion, hopefully the trophy is a hint at it), the Dark and Light suits (from Prime 2) and the PED suit (from Prime 3), as well as some colour swaps that would actually make sense, such as the Gravity suit and Phazon suit.

Link could have the Zora and Magic Armour from Twilight Princess, and maybe some colour swaps to represent the OoT and ALttP tunics.

Fox could have alternate costumes from games in the series other than Command (made to match his current art style, however), such as from Assault, Adventures and Lylat Wars / Starfox 64.

Mario also has lots of possibilities, with some colour swaps being reasonable, to make him have colour schemes matching Fire Mario, or that cool looking black and red costume in Galaxy, or even the Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses that were unlockable in Sunshine.

Wario SHOULD have his old school, yellow and purple overalls costume as an alternate as well, although I actually doubt they'll do this.

I discussed this idea with my brother today. This is pretty much the only thing I really want in this game(since Sonic has been revealed ). It could work similar to the way Soul Calibur does it, unlocking. Or just there from the start, but personally I'd love to unlock Shadow and Dark Samus.

That's far from being a Luigi costume. He has a green shirt and brown overalls.
Like in Melee.

You and I think alike By the way, Samus has always had her Gravity suit recolor, and Phazon, Dark, and Fusion Suit colors are confirmed in the demo.

We now have Fire Mario as well, not to mention Dark Link and some other cool ones. Even the simple recolors are looking more interesting then they were in Melee, though sadly I believe Samus having a Fusion recolor instead of the full Fusion Suit lowers the chance of alt. costumes, but hey theres always unlockables

This is a great idea. And if they had it as a download, but didn't tell you what it was adding, it would be even cooler considering there would be the excitement/mystery of having more to unlock even if you get everything quickly after release.

Also, major agreement on the costume changes not changing hitboxes, that would be a no-no.
