Allegro on Microsoft Visual Studio 2008

Ok, so I'm trying to install Allegro on my computer so I can try some game programming. I use Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.
Am I supposed to install it just like I would for Visual C++? Or is Allegro not compatible with VS? If so, should I just use my Borland?
