the rules, I dont know, what the rules for 1on1on1on1 are, or wich are the best ^^
but I made a (I think) cool torunament system

no loser bracket

group A

1

2

3

4

group B

5

6

7

8

group C

9

10

11

12

group D

13

14

15

16

after the first matches the winners all come in the first group, the second places in the second group etc.
example
first group (all winners)

second group (all second places)

3rd group (all the third places)

4th group (all the 4th places)

now this happens

the two winners of the match of the first group are qualified for the next round
the two losers of the first group go in the second group
the two winners of the second group stay in the second group
the two losers of the second go in the third group
the two winners of the third group stay there
the two losers go in the fourth group
the two winners of the fourth group stay
the two losers of the fourth group are out of the tournament

now there are only group two, three and four over
now are the next matches

the two winners of the new group two are qualified for the next round
the two losers of the new group two go in group three
and so on
the two losers of the fourth group are out

now the next matches
now the same happens with group 3
the winners are qualified
the losers go in group 4
the losers of group 4 are out
the winners of group 4 stay in group 4

now the next match
the winners of group 4 are qualified
the other two are out

the system is like, first you play, and if you are good you come into a higher group
and then the system is like, if you lose, you get one group down
in every round the highest group disappears and if you are in this highest group and you win you get qualified for the next round icon_wink

now there are only 8 players in

group x
qualified players of group 1
and the qualifiers of group 2

group y
qualifiers 3
qualifiers 4

the group x winners are in the final
the group x losers go in group y
the group y winners stay
the group y losers are out (7th and 8th place)

the group y plays another match
the winners are in the finals
the losers are out

then the finals are between
the winners group x and winners group y

I think the system is very good ^^
and at the end there is a ranking system form place 16th (there are two players, which are out at first, and 15th is, who was better in the match, where both went out)
to 1st

thats it =)

maybe the same can made with 1on1s and the 1on1on1on1 matches are groups then, that every player of the group makes a match against another player of the group

edit: hier is a picture for it

that's called Swiss round robin; players with the same record play each other is the easiest way to sum it up

i believe that Team Ben has held the largest tournaments using this format
