Dammit, man, why are you the way you are?
Why do you seek the unnatainable, when you know that all that glitters is not gold?
Is it the shine that tempts you so?
Or is it simply the curiosity?
It killed the cat, you know.
The need to examine?
The need to know?
The need to feel?
For all you know, it could hurt you.
Hell, it could be a well polished grenade.
But you reach your hand further and further into the box
Trying to reach that which you cannot grasp.
What happens when you grab it?
Its over.
No more reason.
Its all you wanted.
You got it.
What goals?
What meaning?
What is this, anyway?
Better to understand.
Why live in ignorance?

Click.

What was that?
A closer examination...

Boom!

Good job, idiot. I told you it was a grenade.

Its a little reference to something I'm going through right now. How I constantly try to have something I can't, setting up an impossible goal for myself. If the goal is ever met, it'll probably end up exploding in my face. Like a hand-grenade.

I hate women.

Not my best work. That was five minutes of me jotting stuff down. I'll post better stuff later.

SEXIST!

In all seriousness, if it's about trying to a girlfriend or something to that end... I can really relate to that. Never had a girlfriend, probably won't for a long while. I really try to be a gentlemen to them, but with no results. Everything has a price, and here's something that had its price tag ripped off, scribbled on and then stomped on a bit before it was reattached.

I know where you're coming from, unfortunately. I'm in love with a girl, and I have absolutely no chance with her. Whatsoever.

But silly me, I'll still tell myself to try. I can already see the grenade-in-the-face that's going to happen, but I'm continuing to try for it anyway. Letting go of her before I get rejected and heartbroken is unimaginable, too. It's funny how we do this to ourselves. It really, really is.

edit: I just wanted to say I rather liked your poem. It summed up my situation really, really well. And in some way it comforts me to know that other people might be going through the same thing. Not too much, though. I still will be heartbroken.

D: So sad...I haven`t had a girlfriend either, It`s not like I don`t want to be alone,
people just make it that way. I don`t ask for everyone to never say hi or to prefer someone
else, I`m just left behind.
