All right... what makes Kirby lose his hat?

Basically, I'm wondering why I can't get PSA to do what this YouTube video does without the GCT code. Anyone who plays Kirby would appreciate the ability to taunt without losing their hard-earned copy ability. I've looked through the whole thing, and I can't make heads or tails of where the copy ability is lost and what I can change to stop it. It would be wonderful if someone could reverse-engineer the code to find out what variable it pokes at; then we can get this small-but-major modification done.
