So we found out about this and tested all reflectors (no customs). Some of the reflectors even have their own breaking animation + sound and Ness has like 5 seconds lag!? Looks weird.

We made a video about it:

"breaking" reflectors has existed since melee, except when a reflector broke then, you were sent into shield break state.
Still pretty interesting how it translates to smash 4 tho.

Fox's reflector also breaks in 64 after enough reflects, leaving him in the shield break state.
It is cool to see how some of the actual reflectors shatter here - too bad that you can't keep up tree badminton for very long!

Pity Ness' bat has a reflection limit now.

Otherwise, playing baseball with the tree could've been an amusing game.

What is up with the sexy/porn music?

But anyways, I have not encountered this so much because reflector games are very rare. Thanks for showing though.

I remember seeing Fox's Reflector break in Smash 64 so there's nothing new about that.

This is much easier to notice with the Red Shell, since it always pursued the closest fighter. However, that item was only present in Smash 64 and Melee.

A note on Pit and Dark Pit's Sspecial: It doesn't reflect every projectile. Some do, some don't. No real rhyme or reason either. Ones that aren't reflected are deflected much like Mewtwo's confusion in Melee, so no multiplier or ownership changes, and the tree happens to be one. Didn't know it "broke" like other reflectors though, but it makes me wonder what'd happen if it hit something it could properly reflect that went over the threshold.

And Guardian Orbitars are weird. If Mewtwo's Shadow Ball breaks it, it'll fly back at Mewtwo but not change ownership again. Unsure if there's other projectiles that work like this...

All reflectors break if hit with an attack that's 50+% just like Shields. Off the top of my head though, some reflectors, like Mega Man's Skull Barrier break at 25+%.

Interesting video, I knew some reflecters break but no all of them.

I also love the choice of music in this video.
