Smash Apprentice
This will be fun, today we'll be pointing out all the foreshadows (but then again, they're probably just coincidence and nothing more lol), rather its in the games in some shape or form, information on scrapped fighters (or those who were too late on the previous installment in certain cases) from someone or through the game files, or maybe even hints.
Smash 64:
- Peach's Castle a stage in Smash 64.
- Originally supposed to be a playable character in Smash 64, but was scrapped due to time constrains.
- Background character in Planet Zebes, Trophy in Melee, and then he was originally gonna a playable character in Brawl but Sakurai thought he would be too hard to adapt because he was too big so he tried to made him an AT but then that was scrapped, and then at the end became a boss in Brawl's SSE and Smash 4.
- Like Bowser, also originally supposed to be a playable character in Smash 64, but was scrapped due to time constrains, and in the end, became a background character in Dreamland (like Ridley) and Trophy in Melee.
- Again, originally supposed to be a playable character in Smash 64, but was scrapped due to time constrains.
- Pokeball Assist (or whatever you call them lol) in Smash 64 and Melee before becoming a playable character.
- He was considered early in development of Smash 64, but was scrapped.
Melee:
- Trophy in Melee, Brawl and Smash 4, as well as being one of Peach's pallette/color swaps in every game prior to Ultimate.
- look above (minus the latter part).
- Dixie Kong's trophy description mentioning Diddy Kong (who didn't have a trophy in Melee).
- look at the first two, also got a DLC Mii Costume in Smash 4.
- Teased in the Melee E3 reveal, before ended up being a last minute secret character during development.
(technically) - Trophy in Melee.
- look above.
- look above, plus was shown in Melee E3 reveal.
- Also seen in the Melee E3 reveal, before ended up being a secret character during development.
- One of the Pokemon on PokeFloats.
- Was originally supposed to be in Melee replacing Ness, but after Earthbound 64 (later Mother 3) got cancelled and then delayed onto the GBA in 2006, so in the end Ness returns.
- Trophy in Melee.
- Sakurai said in a questionnaire that if he had more time develop Melee and could only add 1 character that would have been Wario, who was strongly considered for this game but was scrapped.
- Kojima (Sakurai's close friend) asked him if Snake can be in Smash Bros, but it was too late because the game was far in development, second time's a charm.
- Yuji Naka (Former head of Sonic team) stated that Sonic was strongly considered early on.
- Trophy in Melee.
- look above.
Brawl:
(Returning) - Originally supposed to return in Brawl but was scrapped, due to time constrains.
- Trophy in Brawl.
- look above, also one of Samus' palette/color swaps and a Assist Trophy in Smash 4.
(Returning) - Also originally supposed to return in Brawl but was scrapped, again due to time constrains, plus has a trophy in Brawl and Smash 4 before revealed returning in Smash 4 as DLC.
(Returning) - Last time, originally supposed to return in Brawl but was scrapped, due to time constrains.
- Part of Pit's old FS, and then in Kid Icarus: Uprising, Palutena was at one point talking about smash bros itself.
- R.O.B. enemies in SSE and the R.O.B. statue in Port Town Aero Dive were seen on the Brawl website, before being revealed as a secret character.
- Villager and Miis were planned but Sakurai thought these were not meant to be fighting characters, plus a background character in Brawl.
- Assist Trophy in Brawl.
- Look at Villager.
- Suggested by Miyamoto, but Sakurai went against it and thought it was a little too far-fetched.
Smash 4:
(Returning) - Originally gonna return in Smash 4 but were scrapped due to 3DS limitations.
(Returning) - Trophy in Smash 4 before revealed as DLC.
- At the end of Lucina and Robin's trailer, he said quote ''I supposed i'll get my chance, another day'', plus he was one of Ike's palette/color swaps and also a DLC Mii costume in Smash 4.
- Hinted at the end of Palutena's trailer.
- Assist Trophy in Smash 4, plus DLC Mii costume.
- DLC Mii costume and trophy in Smash 4.
And if he couldn't do character outside of the Fighter Pass, Piranha Plant would've been scrapped otherwise.
Like i said at the beginning. Most if not all of them are probably just nothing more then coincidences, so just say "most of these are just coincidences" all you want.
