Yeah I know I know, another Brawl wavedashing thread. But hear me out. :)

In the smashbros.com update of Bowser's Final Smash, I noticed that Mario uses his air dodge in one of the pictures.

So since air dodging is in, do you think wavedashing is back? Brawl seems to use the same "engine" as Melee, so if the general physics haven't changed, wavedashing should be in. At this point, I don't see how it can't be in. Characters should still have the ability to slide due to momentum.

What does it mean for wavedashing? Not much. It doesn't indicate it's presence, but it doesn't drop the chances of it being in either. Don't we already have some wavedashing threads?

i would like to know if anyone can come up with one good reason that sakurai should go through all the trouble to remove wavedashing from brawl. what harm does it cause??? so your friend is better than you cause he can use wavedashing properly. he's probably better than you at using smash attacks properly, too! lets remove those too then to balance it more.

Good point, but, it IS (In some ways) abusing the game engine, and you have to rememeber, there is talk about the game being *shudders* n00b friendly. they may simply make the game engine THAT much smarter and remove WD...
I'm hoping to God Sakurai ISN'T making the game n00b friendly, and keeps WD in...but we live in dread till the day it comes out.

Wavedashing wil be in the game. Don't make me post it, someone else do it. The moving picture of Wario wavelanding. The pikachu air dodge, this mario picture, the fact that they didn't take it out of the PAL version. There really needs to be a thread with all that stuff. Someone plese do it.

"Abusing the game engine" is a very broad statement that seems to appear whenever wavedashing is mentioned. We "abuse the game engine" in thousands of video games, it's been happening since the 80s. Not everyone plays video games exactly by the book. There's always some kind of shortcut or other technique in every video game.

melee is very noob friendly. so noob friendly, in fact, that people can pick up the game, play it for a week, and be cocky enough to think they are amazing and can win a tournament.

brawl will most likely be the same way, for people who dont go online. theyll pick it up, play for a week, think they know everything about it, then finally go online and get destroyed by a former melee player using advanced techs.

games can easliy be both very deep and advanced, and noob friendly.

Okay, okay, another good point, but, Sakurai is obviously informed of WDing, and since (very broad term as you said 56K) abusing the game engine, he may take it up to remove it.

Very true. I use advanced techs and attend tournaments regularly. My best friend, on the other hand, has had the game since day one, and he's a noob at the game. He doesn't shield, roll, use aerials or air dodge. He doesn't completely understand the concept of using up B to recover. The only two moves he uses are side B and ftilt. Whenever we play smash we just do teams >_>

I'm all for the Air Dodging I think it's def a hugeee advantage for guys playing n00bs or anyboyd who doesn't use it. Same goes for WDashing, if it's in i'll re-learn it. If not i'm all about the Air Dodging wid G&W, it makes him look that much cooler.

its as much of an abuse of the physics system as someone going flying when hit. if you apply a force to an object, the object moves (gets momentum). if an object gets forward momentum on the ground, it slides.

its just like what happens when you give a character forward or downward-forward momentum in melee (think the shine)...thats right, they slide. if there was no wavedashing, then the shine would probably make every character fall over...
...
...wait a second. that could be the nerfing fox needs! but then that means...no wavedashing.

anyway, sliding is a part of the physics system. the alternative they could have used is to make a character fall over when they airdodge into the ground (which is what would most likely happen in real life if you were suddenly launced toward the ground from a few feet above it), but then that would get really annoying. and annoyingness is the opposite of fun. which is what sakurai wants his game to be full of.

so, in conclusin...wavedashing = fun!!!!!

I'm not paying WD out, I'm all for it.
"WaveDashing=fun!!!" I agree there, but...I dunno, I just really feel Sakurai will remove it..

No. But since you can't manage to work the most basic search funcion, I'll say what's been said.

YES Airdodging is in. NO Wavedashing isn't confirmed. We do not know if you can air-dodge and move like Melee, could be air dodging in place. We can't even say that Triangle jumping is in Brawl.
