Since the latest patch, my level 9 AIs have seemingly got dumber and dumber, with only some notable exceptions.

Ness and Rosalina refuse to recover, or fail completely, Captain Falcon will spam nothing but Falcon Punch and Raptor Boost, and some characters will stand there and keep using certain moves even if they whiff or get countered/reflected 3/4 times in a row...

On the other hand, however, characters that I play, like Robin, Koopalings and Ganondorf tend to do way, waaay better, with Robin being the most notable example, (except for the occasional dumb moment) kicking my [Smash] pretty hard (If I had a win for every time I heard "NOSFERATU!" and panicked like a noob, I'd be ZeRo (-or something).).

What's with this? Are they learning from my playstyle? Are some AIs naturally bad? All of the above? Just wondering if other people have had similar experiences.

I was training against a level 9 Mii Brawler which used Side-B (Onslaught) 13 times in a row while I stood completely still directly above him on another platform.

Mega Man stopped trying to Crash Bomb if he didn't reach the stage with Rush. DH stopped using Clay Pigeon to recover. Captain Flacon is now bodying me. They've gotten better for me.

Like in Brawl and like amiibos, the CPUs do learn from you. Some CPU's AI might of been messed up because of the old stuff they've learned and the new AI conflicting. Oh, and CPUs are terrible with custom moves, Miis included. They use the move like they would the default, meaning Yoshi will spam Yoshi jump at a distance, Greninja will try to use the explosion move as a counter, and Ness will just fail his recovery due to the new physics.

Wow, this post explains a lot. Just wondering if AIs learn from other players too, now... I feel like they might since whenever I play Ness (rare), I tend to not suck with recoveries. lol

The AIs are just kinda weird in general. I think it depends on the character. I don't memorize which characters have SD'd against me, but they tend to be faster characters. It's the funniest thing when it happens though.

I wouldn't get bothered by it though. Dumbness in AIs usually make me laugh.

I've seen that LV.9 Ness always recovers low at any percent. He'll use PK Thunder and angle it to sweetspot the ledge, making him super easy to spike or gimp him by absoring PK Thunder (Or go on Jungle Japes and watch him SD multiples times). Also, most of other LV.9 CPUs don't even know what do when I stand still
