Let me just say first of all that I am no different from many of you. I want to play as Puff, Ness and Lucario just as much as the next guy. But, all of you who have not thought about this enough do have to realize one simple thing:

THE VIDEO CONFIRMS ONLY ONE THING: LUCARIO'S, PUFF'S AND NESS'S PRESENCE IN BRAWL.

When I first saw the news, I was ecstatic. Ness and Puff were returning, as well as a pretty cool character. Though, I realized that that was all I was able to make of it. Nowhere do we have proof of these three characters being playable outside of SSE, much like several of the SSE enemies and the Alloy Team (more likely than not, but it's logical) are not playable in Vs. mode without in-game cheating devices.

Sakurai did mention that several characters may not be returning to Brawl. Why have we not seen any other new characters? Why only these three? Is it possible Sakurai has "SSE-Character ONLY" stickers? The two images circulating this form may disprove this, but still. Why would Nintendo directly leak three unannounced character? As compensation for the delay? I personally think that's highly unlikely. And seeing if this "leak" was a mistake, don't you think the video would have been offline by now? Most especially, off the official Wii site itself?

There's things to consider before jumping to conclusions. We may be getting help from other places besides our own roster in Brawl. That does not mean that we can add these characters to our roster, nor does it mean we can't. These are things to consider.

CUT TO THE CHASE

For those of you too lazy to read, here's a summary:

The video did not confirm that Ness, Lucario and Puff are playable characters. Take it all with a grain of salt and wait for the update tonight to either prove or disprove.

Thanks,

You're grasping at straws.
I don't think that's the case.

I think my questioning is logical, and I have to ask whether or not you see something and assume it's true, or if you question things? Did you believe any of the other false leaks without thinking them through? And did you throw away any leak that was true? Such as Dragoon?

I'm hardly grasping for anything. Although the Wii site is about as official as it can be, I doubt that Nintendo could be so careless and reveal not one, not two, but three unannounced characters all at once, unless they're trying to compensate for the delay.

You also failed to see the message. I neither agree or disagree with the leak. I'm taking it as it comes. It seems like you accept the truth too quickly. You're the audience I was aiming for.

this really doesn't deserve its own thread.
It doesn't? So, when do you decide whether or not someone's opinions are to be heard or whisked away? Or do you just fear that your dreams may not come true?

This is my opinion. I would like to see these three characters as playable characters in Brawl, but that has not been proven. I'm taking this as a grain of salt and trying to show people what I think, not to be told that my opinion basically means nothing.

So, that being said, does anyone agree or disagree? I'd like to discuss this further and hopefully be proven wrong. If you don't read my post, I suggest you just don't reply at the risk of sounding like a total idiot.

It's certainly a good idea to be vigilant with so many false leads cropping up, but I think we can let our guard down on this one.

I find it difficult to swallow that the Brawl team would go to the trouble of creating a character like Lucario, have him function as an ally in SSE, complete with the sticker customization available to every other character, only to turn around and say he can't be used in Multi.

Seems like too much of a tease.

Why would Sakurai care so much to cover it up. If indeed there were SSE only characters (which, by the way, is a waste of a moveset to not have them in Vs.) he could just do the Monday update as "SSE only characters" instead of scrubbing the images from the videos and reupping them?

Why hide what you can reveil, or hide what is known (proof: Kirby trio in the Sticker Power up thread).

...?

Nintendo quickly ripped down the video after it began to spread all across forums, both english and japanese, raising suspicion to tremendous levels.

Tonight's update doesn't have to be Lucario, Jigglypuff, or Ness for it to be true, because the DOJO's updates are planned a month in advance.

SSE character only? There is NO such thing as an SSE character only; he's stated that the characters who don't make it to playable status are deemed as an assist trophy and nothing more. Are we allowed to play assist trophies?

I think the idea of characters that can only be played in single player/SSE is ridiculous. I understand that you don't want people to be disappointed in case this turns out to be more than people think it is, but why would they take a complete character and limit it to one part of the game, especially since (if I am not mistaken) multiple Nintendo representatives have said they know multiplayer is the core of Smash Bros. Intentionally weakening the multiplayer of Smash Brothers would be like weaking the single player of a Zelda game for some sort of multiplayer? Don't count on it.
